BREAKING: Burglars use stolen truck to force heist at Athens gun store

— Athens Police are seeking the public's help in solving an early-morning burglary at a local gun shop where three burglars backed a stolen truck into the store's doors to gain entry and haul away loot.

Police Chief Floyd Johnson said the suspects broke into Craig's Guns & Tactical off U.S. 72 East about 2 a.m. Friday. They made off with four camouflage Smith & Wesson brand M&P AR15 semiautomatic rifles and several Glock and Colt brand pistols.

"The owners are inventorying the stock before we will know a complete list of property stolen," Johnson said. "At this time, we know three people were involved and the truck used in the burglary was stolen from Madison County.

The truck has since been recovered, and police are processing it for evidence, the chief said. .
