Sheriff arrests 2 more sought in drug roundup

Limestone County Sheriff’s investigators have arrested two more men in connection with a 10-month undercover drug investigation that led to the arrest of 19 people last Friday, Sheriff Mike Blakely said.

Investigators obtained warrants for 26 people following their investigation and still had seven outstanding warrants to serve Friday.

On Monday, investigators arrested Cortez Horton, 24, of 4095 Lawson Ridge Drive, Apt. 707, Madison, on two counts of distribution of a controlled substance. He was released from the Limestone County Jail after posting a $20,000 bail. Investigators also arrested Johnathan Lamar Woods, 21, 17795 Ezell St., Athens, on one count of distribution of controlled substance. He was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bail.

The drug buys were made all over the county, not in one location, Blakely said Monday.

“They were made all over — from Tanner to Ardmore and from Clements to East Limestone,” he said. “Most individuals are street-level dealers and have been a problem in facilitating the sale of illegal drugs to our citizens and children.”

The sheriff’s narcotics unit led the investigation and obtained 15 warrants for the sale of prescription drugs, nine for the sale of marijuana, six for the sale of crack cocaine and one for the sale of meth, Blakely said.

The following people are wanted but have not yet been located: Martha Leann Holt, Brian Russell Lanier, Corey Denezel Watkins, James Stanley Pylant and Andrew Wiley Finley.
