A man accused of exposing himself to a woman in the Athens Walmart parking lot Wednesday has been charged with indecent exposure, records show.
Athens Police arrested Earl Blake Emerson, 39, of Ardmore, about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday after the alleged victim telephoned police to report a man exposing himself, Chief Floyd Johnson said.
“The female victim told our dispatcher she pulled into a parking place and noticed a man in the truck next to her staring at her,” Johnson said. “When she looked over, she noticed the man was masturbating. The victim then pulled her vehicle behind the offender’s truck to get the tag number. The offender then moved over to the driver’s side of the truck and pulled out of Walmart.”
The victim followed the truck until Officer Tom Allen arrived and stopped the truck on Cactus Street, the chief said.
Emerson was booked at the Police Department and released after posting bail of $500.

A year ago in October, police arrested Emerson on a charge of first-degree robbery for allegely striking a 75-year-old man with a baseball bat. According to police, Emerson had given the man $20 to take his mother to the store and to take him to the junkyard. Police said when the victim went to Emerson's home ot give him a ride to the junkyard, Emerson said he had gotten a ride from someone else and wanted his $10 back. When the victim told Emerson he did not have the $10, Emerson allegedly beat him with the bat, police said.
