Finance chief contract OK’d

New CSFO to be paid $90K salary

— The Limestone County Board of Education unanimously approved a three-year contract for the system’s chief school finance officer.

Ann Swanner, who was hired Oct. 17 for the permanent position after serving as interim CSFO, will be paid $90,000 annually. Swanner served as custodian of funds for Limestone from 1984 to 1997.

The contract, which is effective from Nov. 1 to Nov. 1, 2016, includes a stipulation for an annual job performance evaluation and lists Swanner as exempt from education employee raises enacted by the state Legislature.

Previously, the finance chief was a classified position instead of a contract employee, and the CSFO did not receive a job review each year.

Limestone’s former finance officer, Jonathan Craft, spent 11 years with the system and made $83,499. He accepted a $90,000 salary to take the same position on Sept. 1 with Hartselle City Schools.
