“North Alabama is a unique and special place that contributes greatly to Alabama's progress and growth, and representing the great people of Limestone and Madison Counties in the Alabama State Senate has been an honor,” Holtzclaw said. “I am seeking re-election because we still have work to do – creating more economic development opportunities, reforming state government, and capitalizing off BRAC.”
Holtzclaw is chairman of the Senate Veterans and Military Affairs committee and chairman of the Joint Legislative Committee for Contract Review. He also serves as a member of Finance and Taxation General Fund; Small Business and Economic Development; Banking and Insurance; Children, Youth Affairs and Human Resources; Commerce, Transportation and Utilities; Education Policy; and Local Legislation No. 4, a newly-created Committee. According to Holtzclaw, he has sponsored and passed legislation to provide additional resources and protection to military members, reform and strengthen DUI penalties, and streamline state government.
“As I have done these first three years, I will continue to be transparent, honest, and responsive in my duties serving the people of this area,” Holtzclaw said.
Holtzclaw was elected in 2010 to the Alabama Senate, District 2, representing parts of Limestone and Madison Counties. He and his wife Pam have two daughters, Sydney and Abby, and a son-in-law, Michael.
