An Athens man involved in a May 31 fatal wreck east of Elkmont has been charged with reckless murder and driving on the wrong side of the highway, records show.
Rickey Wade Adams, 49, of 23705 Reunion Road, was arrested Wednesday on the charges after Alabama state troopers obtained the warrant last week.
Wade was released from the Limestone County Jail after posting bail of $31,000 on the two charges.
Troopers had already charged Wade with driving under the influence following the 8:45 p.m. wreck on New Garden Road that killed Harvey Glenn Moore, 73, of Athens.
According to troopers, Moore was driving a 1991 Pontiac sedan less than a half-mile from his home when Adams struck him in his 2002 Ford pickup.
Moore died at the scene from blunt-force trauma, Limestone County Coroner Mike West told The News Courier. He was not wearing a seat belt, the coroner said.
Adams was not injured.
The case will be presented to a Limestone County grand jury, which will determine if there is adequate evidence to formally charge Adams.
