— Marijuana in a Mason jar and other drugs led to the arrest of four men very early Saturday morning west of Athens.

Limestone County Sheriff’s deputies were called about 1 a.m. to investigate shots fired at a trailer park off Blackburn Road, Lt. Jay Stinnett said.

Deputies found a vehicle seen in the area of the trailer park — a blue Ford Taurus with only one working headlight — on Bill Black Road, off New Cut Road, Stinnett said.

“When we got the vehicle stopped, we obtained permission to search and found marijuana in a Mason jar, some diazepam, Xanax and some scales,” he said.

Stinnett said the shots fired at the trailer park turned out to be shots fired into the air. No one was injured, he said.

Arrested on charges of first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia were:

• John Lee Douglas Jr., 24, of 700 Fifth Ave., Apt. S-61, Athens;

• Trevin Jacob Troupe, 20, of 21720 Piney Chapel Road, Lot 51, Athens;

• Thomas Dearvie Vawters, 24, of 700 S. Clinton St., Apt. 4-H, Athens;

• Mark Anthony Williams, 24, of 19775 Paris Lane, Athens, who was also charged with violating the law regarding a license to carry a pistol in a vehicle.

Douglas, Troupe and Vawters were released from the Limestone County Jail after posting bail of $11,000 each.

Williams was released after posting bail of $11,750.
