Three people injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle rollover accident on U.S. 72 in Limestone County are recovering from their injuries at area hospitals, officials said.
Two sport-utility vehicles collided and then rolled over about 2:10 p.m. near Blackburn Road, five miles west of Athens, a state trooper said. The driver and passenger of one of the SUVs — Yvonne Pressnell, 77, and Willie Britton, 80, both of Athens — were taken to different hospitals. Pressnell was treated at Athens-Limestone Hospital and released, a hospital spokeswoman said. Britton was listed in good condition Wednesday at Huntsville Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The driver of the other SUV — John Bevis, 35, of Florence — also was treated at Athens-Limestone Hospital and released, the spokeswoman said.
All three occupants were wearing seat belts when the wreck occurred, according to state troopers.
The wreck stalled traffic in the eastbound lane of 72 for a time.
