Robert Leslie Durham

The funeral for Robert Leslie Durham, 77, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home with Jim Cummings officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Durham died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at Crestwood Hospital.

Mr. Durham was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Colbert County. He retired from NASA after 35 years of service. He was one of the first 300 hired at the Marshall Space Flight Center. He worked on the first Saturn V rocket and all other space programs. His most important job was being a daddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Emmet Durham and Annie Bolton Durham; his wife, Martha Louise Durham; his sister, Weba Alberta Pope; his father and mother-in-law, Joseph Earl Buttram and Flonnie Gertrude Buttram; and nephew Danny Ray Pope.

He is survived by three daughters, Martha Susan Durham of Athens, Nancy Carol Daniel and husband Benny of Arab, Linda Kaye Durham Gooch and husband Michael of Athens; one sister, Betty Catherine Cummings of Muscle Shoals; one brother, John Herbert Durham of Cherokee; two grandchildren, Regina Carol Geckles and husband Eric, Stacey Michelle Daniel; and two great-grandchildren, James Eric Geckles, and John Robert Geckles.

Glenda Louise Brown

The funeral for Glenda Louise Brown, 47, of Huntsville will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Syler Tabernacle with Stanley Ridley officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens with Royal Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Mrs. Brown died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Crestwood Hospital.

Walter Mae Jones

The funeral for Walter Mae Jones, 83 of Huntsville will be at noon Saturday at Little Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Crutcher officiating. Burial will be in Faith Memorial Gardens with Royal Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral.
