Eardie Lee Garner

The funeral for Eardie Lee Garner, 83, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Spry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dement Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Garner died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at Limestone Health Facility.

He was born June 6, 1923, in Limestone County. He was a retired sheet-metal worker and farmer and was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Garner was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a very loving, compassionate and cherished father-in-law. Mr. Garner was loved by all and loved all. Mr. Garner was a member of Mount Carmel Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for many years. During vacation Bible school, he was known as “Mr. Quiet.” Survivors include his wife, Naomi Garner of Athens; five sons, Wade Garner and wife Marilyn of Athens, Dan Garner and wife Wanda, Dwight Garner and wife Nana, Stevie Garner and wife Barbara, and Jeff Garner, all of Athens; two sisters, Juanita Brock and Christine Garner, both of Athens; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Garner; two brothers, Alfred Garner and Herbert Garner; one sister, Betty Ball; and one great-grandson, Brandon Garner.

Pallbearers will be Danny Garner, Terry Garner, Benji Garner, David Garner, Payton Garner, Jerry Garner, Will Garner and Edward Fossett.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.



Marlies K. Gaudin

The funeral arrangements for Marlies K. Gaudin, 92, of Huntsville, who died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at Crestwood Medical Center, will be announced by McConnell Funeral Home.

John C. Griffin Sr.

The funeral for John C. Griffin Sr., 89, of Wayne, Mich., will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Spry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Griffin died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, in Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vadie Griffin; and his daughter, Joyce Pack.

Survivors include three sons, John C. Griffin Jr. and wife Alice of Michigan, Hulen R. Griffin and wife Rosemary of Indiana and Danny G. Griffin and wife Linda of Michigan; two daughters, Marjorie Hoffman of Michigan and Debra Perdue and husband Lee of Michigan; one son-in–law, Bob Main of Michigan; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; four brothers and one sister.



Lola Lovell

The funeral arrangements for Lola Lovell, 83, of Athens, who died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at her residence, will be announced by Spry Funeral Home.



John Rabon Parvin

The funeral for John Rabon Parvin, 44, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Madison Chapel Funeral Home in Madison.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Parvin died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Rabon Parvin.

He is survived by one son, Jack Allen Parvin; one daughter, Amber Sherrell Parvin; his mother, Linda Jane Parvin Crowson; two sisters, Margaret Ellen Perry and Janet Dale Parvin; and one nephew, Chandler Mott, all of Athens.



Julia Carolyn Wilson

Julia Carolyn Gibson Wilson, 68, of Athens, and formerly of Union Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at her home in Athens. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Aberfoil community in Bullock County, with the Rev. Bruce Hose officiating and Gray Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be at Gray Funeral Home from noon until 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband, Albert Wilson; one daughter, Laura Agee and husband Jim of Athens; one son, Buck Wilson of Madison; four grandchildren, Will Agee, Brent Agee, Katelyn Wilson and Marie Wilson; one brother, Tony Gibson and wife Becky of Union Springs.
