Alvin "Pappy" Jackson

— Alvin Louis “Pappy” Jackson, 96, departed this life peacefully at his home in Capshaw on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012. He was born June 18, 1916.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jackson; and his father and mother, Issac Jackson and Ina Goodwin Kernodle.

He was a World War II and Korean War veteran and a civil service employee for the U.S. Army Missile Command for more than 30 years. He was a member of Unity Church in Memphis, Tenn.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and compassionate friend to many.

He is survived by daughters, Jean Capuzzo and husband Mike, Cindy Jackson and partner Jo Peterson, and Susan Pennington; grandchildren, Erica Braddock, Kavon Alapour and Vida Alapour; as well as extended family members and many beloved friends.

A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends at his home from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.

Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Unity of Dothan, 942 South Oates, Dothan, AL 36301.
