Betty Craig

— Betty Joan Craig, 70, of Athens passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, at home.

Mrs. Craig was born Aug. 11, 1943, in Limestone County to Thomas Hazel Gatlin and Claudia Oceal Shelton Gatlin. Mrs. Craig was a member of the Church of Christ. She retired from General Electric Co. in Decatur.

Services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Steve Spray and Philip Richards officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation is 1:45-2:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Craig was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Hazel and Claudia Oceal Gatlin; son, Tim A. Craig; grandson, Austin Craig Thomas; two sisters, Retha Arra and and Edith Eubanks.

Survivors include her husband, Allen B. Craig of Athens; three daughters, Anita Taylor and husband Steve of Decatur, Edwina Craig and Lisa Thomas, both of Athens; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lenna Ruth Bates of Athens and Barbara Adams of Lester; one brother, Tommy Gatlin and wife Charlotte of Lester; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Ramsey, Robert Coats, Allen Thomas, Cody Arra, Dennis Mitchell and Charles Craig.

In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th floor, New York, NY 10001.
