The funeral for Warren Jason Coffman, 93, of Athens will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at McConnell Funeral Home with Lynn Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Bottoms Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Coffman died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Athens Rehabilitation and Senior Care.
He was born March 29, 1920, in Brace, Tenn., to Leonard Jason Coffman and Mary Elizabeth Kelley Coffman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farmer and he worked at TVA Browns Ferry. He loved working his large vegetable garden. His last garden was when he was 89. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church where he sang bass in the choir.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Naomi Newby Coffman; second wife, Corine Ogles Coffman; two brothers; and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Coffman; four daughters, Patricia Foster and husband Al of Birmingham, Pamela White of Athens, Priscilla Nunnelee of Decatur, and Faith Meeks and husband Billy of Harvest; six grandchildren, Christy White Eastman, Jason Foster, Sarah Foster Knight, Katy White, Nathan White and Chelsey Barnes; nine great-grandchildren,and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Concord Baptist Church, Food Bank of North Alabama or a favorite charity.
