Jessie Eugene Hargrove

— The funeral for Jessie Eugene Hargrove, 86, of Ardmore, Tenn., will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, Ala., with Alan Hughes and Billy Taylor officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hargrove died Monday, April 1, 2013, at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens.

He was born Thursday, Jan. 20, 1927, in Elkmont, the son of Jessie Hargrove and Farrie Turner Hargrove. He loved gardening, dancing and traveling. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of First Baptist Church of Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Dison Hargrove; his parents; his sisters, Bessie Dison and Myrtle Thomas; his brothers, Jake Hargrove, James Hargrove, Charles Hargrove and Vernon Hargrove; and a stepson, David Widner.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Widner Hargrove of Ardmore, Tenn.; one son, Derrick Hargrove of Georgia; two stepsons Ray Widner and wife Kay, and Ricky Widner and wife Cindy, all of Ardmore, Ala.; two daughters, Debbie Brookshire and husband Michael of Athens, and Cathy Hargrove and husband Gary of Ardmore, Ala.; two brothers, Doug Hargrove and wife Dorothy, and W.D. Hargrove and wife Maxine, both of Arkansas; 12 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
