Jerry Pack

— On Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, Jerry Nelson Pack departed from this life.

He was born on May 21, 1942, in Athens. He was preceded in death by his parents, John William and Anna Pearl King Pack and five siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Ann Bobo Pack; and two daughters, Machelle Pack Ogletree and husband, Dewayne Ogletree, of Athens and Jerrianne Pack Herron and husband, Greg Herron, of Harvest.

He was the youngest of nine siblings, three of whom survive him, Johnnie D. Pack of Athens, Nell Pack Harvey of Athens and Agnes Pack Ferrell of Montgomery. Jerry was a proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Brianna Janowitz, Joshuah Ogletree, Sydnee Kerr, Lindsay Ogletree, Shea Herron and Riley Herron. He had three great-grand children, and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was a member of Athens High School Class of 1961. He was wed to Kathryn Bobo in 1963, to whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on December 23. He retired from Athens-Limestone Hospital in 2009. He loved spending time with his family and was especially proud of his great grandchildren. He also was an avid gardener who passed along his love and knowledge of gardening to his daughters. He spent much of his time after retirement raising vegetables and tending his daylily fields. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at McConnell Funeral Home. Family will be received at 5 p.m.

The funeral will be at McConnell at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov.6, with Kirk Bobo officiating; eulogy will be by Charles Stewart to follow.

Burial will be at Limestone Memorial Gardens.

His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend their heart felt gratitude to the many kind friends and relatives who helped during the toilsome times preceding his death.
