Maratha Enola Smith Tabor, 68, of Slidell, La., on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 4 a.m., entered into eternal rest in the arms of our Lord.
The beloved wife for 52 years of Butler Tabor Sr., she was the daughter of the late Malcolm Smith Sr. and Stella Martin Smith.
She was the mother of sons, Butler Tabor Jr., and Charles Tabor and wife Kaline; and daughter, Tina Tabor.
Martha was the sister of Floyd Bealer, Malcolm Smith, Lenora Whitney, Barbara Levron, the late Michael Bealer and Marilyn June La Cross.
She was the granddaughter of Charlie and Martha Eaton Smith. Her relatives of the Eaton Smith and Nelson families still reside in Limestone County.
Martha is also survived by her loving pet, Dusty II.
Martha was born in Gretna, La., grew up in Westwego, La., and resided in Slidell for 30 years. She was a member of the Ladies Lions Club, Westwego; the DAV Auxiliary, Slidell; and the VFW Auxiliary, Port Sulphur, La.
She was the hostess of Doug’s Restaurant in Slidell.
She was loved by so many family members and friends, lovingly cared for by the Slidell Memorial Hospital MICU Team and Lakeshore Hospice. Dr. Pichon and Dr. Parker, angels on earth, thank you.
Relatives and friends of the family attended the 1 p.m. funeral services at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West in Slidell on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral on Wednesday.
Her loving son Charles wrote the following poem:
Although Mother’s Day is a month away, there’s something we just have to say. Your love is so bright it shows us the way to make it through each and every day. Now that it's time for us to say goodbye your loving light will forever shine.
