Kathy Owens

The funeral for Kathy Joan Owens, 56, of Elkmont will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Spry Funeral Home with Jerry Smith and James Turner officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 19, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Owens died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital.

Kathy Owens was born Jan. 19, 1957, in Limestone County. She attended Owens Elementary School and graduated from Clements High School in 1975 where she received the DAR Good Citizenship Award and represented Clements High at Girls State.

Mrs. Owens was an employee at Hyatt and Sims Paint Store in Athens prior to operating Jerry’s Lawn Service. She was a member of Shanghai Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Jerry Owens of Elkmont; daughters, Jennifer K. Smith and husband Jared, and Lori B. McMunn and husband Jason, all of Athens; parents, Hobert and Betty Jane Dollar of Athens; brothers, Danny Dollar and wife Patsy, and Steve Dollar, all of Athens, and Randy Dollar and wife Debi of Cullman; sisters, Gloria Fergus and husband Charlie of Elkmont, and Sharon Dollar of Athens; grandchildren, Bailey Marie McMunn and Maggie Claire Smith.

Pallbearers are Michael Turner, Paul Anton, Louie Dollar, Tracy Tyler, Jerry Hardaway and Wayne Moran. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie and Daveen Stanford, Harold and Ann Robinson, Bobby and Debbie Dison, Wayne and Anita Bennett, Ricky Patterson, Grady and Janice Swanner, Jeff Cox, Bill Dollar, Lynn Davidson and Mike Holt.
