Robert Birdwell

— The funeral for Robert Earl Birdwell, 69, of Rogersville will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Spry Funeral Home with Johnny Stringer and O.C. Birdwell officiating. Burial will be in Romine Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Birdwell died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence.

Robert Birdwell was born Feb. 8, 1943, in Lauderdale County. He was retired from maintenance at the University of North Alabama in Florence. He was a member of the Confluence Church of Christ.

Mr. Birdwell was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Birdwell; and son, Robert Earl Birdwell Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Birdwell of Rogersville; son, Tony Birdwell of Rogersville; daughters, Vicky Wilson and husband Shane of Rogersville, Patty Blankenship and husband Michael of Lester, and Peggy Blankenship and husband Greg of Rogersville; brother, O’Neal Birdwell and wife Bonnie of Rogersville; sister, Joyce Butler of Rogersville; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are David Birdwell, Richard Birdwell, Christopher Garner, Brandon Thacker, Cory Newton and Levi Whitman. Honorary pallbearers are Farris Wilson, Cody Blankenship and Colton Blankenship.
