Douglas McMunn

— Douglas Vernon McMunn, 82, of Athens passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, in Red Bay.

Mr. McMunn was born in 1930 in Limestone County to Matthew McMunn and Flossie Johnson McMunn.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Roselawn Cemetery with Grover Gardner officiating.

Visitation is from 2-3:50 p.m. Sunday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Mr. McMunn was a former member of the Decatur National Guard A Company. He also saw active duty from 1950-1952 as a sergeant in the 10th Corp. of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Dewey McMunn; and a sister, Julia Faye Chambers.

Survivors include his wife, Gaynell McMunn of Athens; son, Don McMunn and wife, Linda of Pleasant View. Tenn.; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren of Tenn.; two brothers, Matthew McMunn Jr. of Decatur and Richard McMunn of Margaret; two sisters, Lois Black of Jasper and Mary Bundick of Madison, Tenn.
