Maria Hetrick

The News Courier

— Maria Louise Hetrick, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend was called to receive her heavenly reward Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014.

A native of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Hetrick was a Bell trained operator and for the last 27 years served the Marshall Space Flight Center community as an information operator and help desk analyst. She prided herself on outstanding customer service and always having a “smile in her voice.” She loved to travel and was an avid cruiser having extensively sailed the Caribbean. She was a longtime cancer survivor, life thriver, and bosom buddy sister.

Mrs. Hetrick was preceded in death by her husband, Duane W. Hetrick; father, Louis R. DeSario, and mother, Jennifer R. Marvin.

Survivors include her daughter, Kara Hetrick; sisters, Annmarie Kaspy and Edie Zeno; nieces , Louisa Marvin, Michal Kaspy, Shannon Andreff and Veronica Holcomb; sister-in-law, Patti Hetrick; dear cousin, Barbara Tesniarz; and many cherished friends.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in an attractive well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO — what a ride!

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Alookaran officiating. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Akron, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Russel Hill Cancer Foundation, or the St. Paul Catholic Church religious-education building fund.
