Cordys “Cliff” Walden Jr.

— Cordys “Cliff” Wycliff Walden, Jr. of East Limestone passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Limestone Health Facility in Athens.  Mr. Walden was born Sept. 15, 1937, in Campbell County, Virginia, to Cordys Wycliff Walden Sr. and Evie Green Dalton.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Thelma Hicks; daughter, Evie Forrest and husband Dave of Asheboro, N.C.; son, Kirk Walden of Meridianville; two grandchildren, Danielle Forrest of Raleigh, N.C., and Derrick Forrest (Stacy Boone) of Ramseur, N.C.; two step-great-grandchildren, Shayla Boone and Zavier Boone of Ramseur; and his close friend of 20 years and volunteer caregiver for the last few years of his life, Roger Bates of Athens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Antheline Bates and Evelyn Frances Sutton; and two brothers, Ray O’Neill Walden and Robert Lee Walden.

Mr. Walden served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1963. He worked 29 years as a computer operator before retiring from Revlon. He later moved to East Limestone in 1993.

He was an avid golfer, fisherman and loved to hunt with his son and dogs.

No public services are scheduled at this time.

Friends or family may call at the private residence. 

The family has requested that no flowers be sent, but donations be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Berryhill Funeral Home is in charge of the cremation.
