Florence “Tot” Gossett

— The funeral for Florence Ophelia Thomas “Tot” Gossett, 81, of Athens will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Spry Funeral Home with John Gibson and Bill Irby officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gossett died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at home.

Florence Gossett was born July 15, 1931, in Lauderdale County. She retired from Saginaw, and was a member of West Hobbs Street Church of Christ. Mrs. Gossett was a devoted and loving Mother who loved her children and family unconditionally. Her influence on our lives reflected in many ways.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Hugh Gossett; and daughter, Belinda Gossett.

Survivors include sons, Sam Gossett and wife Connie, Tim Gossett and wife Kathy, all of Athens; daughter, Vickie Dunnavant of Pulaski, Tenn.; grandchildren, Cherry Collins and husband Brad, Susie Strickland and husband Jason, Wes Gossett, Jilya Gossett and MaCall Gossett; great-grandchildren, Arden, Whitby, Asher Collins and Camden Strickland.

Pallbearers will be Sam Gossett, Tim Gossett, Brad Collins, Jason Strickland, Wes Gossett and Albert Haraway. Honorary pallbearers are Whitby, Camden, Asher and Arden.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
