Walter Hagood

— Walter O. Hagood, 88, of Percy passed away at 7:24 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at the Community Hospital in Pinckneyville, Ill.

Walter was born in Limestone County on Jan. 12, 1924, the son of Henry W. and Eula E. Lovell Hagood. He married Amaryaless A. Jordan on Jan. 24, 1953, in Iuka, Miss. She preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 1984. He then married Frances D. Kelly in 1990 in Gatlinburg, Tenn. She preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 2010. 

Walter was a retired service tech from Sears, and EMT, and a volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Tanner United Methodist Church.

Walter is survived by one daughter, Patricia L. Smith and husband Roger of Percy, Ill.; five grandchildren, Arminda L. Reed and husband Patrick, Caleb K. Smith and wife Nicole, Heather N. Hagood, Nathanael R. Smith and Haleih M. Hagood; two great-grandchildren, Barrett Walter Smith and Eleanor Lynn Reed; and one daughter-in-law, Sharon C. Hagood of Tamaroa, Ill.

Walter was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven; three brothers; and two sisters.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home in Pekin, Ill. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. 

Visitation will be at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home in Pekin. 

Memorials may be given to Siteman Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
