Charles Leigeber Jr.

The funeral for Charles Francis Leigeber Jr., 80, of Athens will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Spry Funeral Home with Steve Kline, Jerry Curry and Ross Melvin officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Leigeber died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at home.

Charles Leigeber was born July 18, 1933, in Jefferson County. He retired from McKesson Wholesale Sales after 27 years, and, for many years, was former owner of Sundry Distributors in Athens. Mr. Leigeber was a gospel preacher in Tennessee and a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Athens. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Francis Leigeber Sr. and Minnie Melvin Leigeber.

Survivors include his wife, Jonnie Leigeber of Athens; son, Charles Michael Leigeber and wife Kelly of Athens; daughters, Roxanne Brown, and Kerri Calvert and husband Craig, all of Athens; grandchildren, Charles Micahael Leigeber II, Megan Leigeber Chetelat, Jeff Brown, Jamie Brown and wife Hillary, Joel Brown and wife Lura, Alexander Calvert and Elizabeth Anne Calvert; great-grandchildren, Jake, Lukas, Brody, Tucker, Ian, Noah and Bella; sister, Gloria Sadler and husband Doyle of Garden City; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be deacons at Eastside Church of Christ.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Alabama.
