Bettie Rae married Sammie Joe Bryant in 1955 and spent 57 loving years in his arms. She and her family were faithful members of Huffman Church of Christ in Birmingham for over 30 years, and then she and her husband attended the churches at Selfville, and Eastside in Athens. She worked at Simon Williamson Clinic as an x-ray technician until her retirement. She loved her family dearly, and was very happy when she knew all would gather at the same place at the same time.
She never met a stranger nor failed to spread the gospel at any opportunity. Bettie Rae loved telling jokes and hearing people laugh. She often referred to her children as her “full house” – three kings and two queens. To her husband, she was “My Sweetheart,” to her children she was “The Example,” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren she was “Sweet Mimi,” and to all who knew her, you are blessed.
