Sally Mai Owens

Sally Mai Owens, 77, of Athens passed away Saturday Feb. 22, 2014, at home.

Mrs. Owens was born May 6, 1936, in Nashville, Tenn., to Ruben and Annie Brinley Hatfield. She was a homemaker and member of Main Street Church of Christ in Manchester, Tenn. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loyl Owens; brothers, L.C., Wesley and Roy L.; and sister, Dorothy Hatfield.

Visitation is 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 25, at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. The funeral follows at 2 p.m. with interment in Minor Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include sons, Danny Owens of Joelton, Tenn., Jerry Owens of Elkmont, Ray Owens and wife Karen of Jacksonville; daughter, Delbra Shores and husband Richard of Hartselle; brothers, Bonnie Hatfield of Nashville, Willie Hatfield of Ashland City, Tenn.; sisters, Clara Smart of Nashville, Shirley Janes of Manchester; grandchildren, Tabatha Owens, Erica Wilbanks, Jennifer Smith, Lori McMunn; great-grandchildren, Bailey Marie McMunn, Maggie Clara Smith and Brady W. Owens. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Carr & Erwin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
