George Moran

— The funeral for George Dewey Moran, 62, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home with Matt Taylor and Melissa Belt officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home.

Mr. Moran died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at home.

George Moran was born April 12, 1950, in Limestone County. He retired from the Limestone County Board of Education. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda Moran; and son, Heath Moran.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Moran of Athens; daughters, Melissa Belt and husband Lance, and Paula Smith and husband Billy, all of Athens; son, Patrick Holt and wife Ronda of Cullman; sisters, Margie Sandlin and Mary Price, both of Trinity; grandchildren, Trey Lankster and wife Tarah, Anyston Belt, Courtney Moran, Ben Moran, Preston Smith, Olivia Smith, Cora Smith, Sydney Holt and Payton Holt; great-grandson, Aiden Lankster; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Lorie Springer, Shelly Shelton, Jennifer Horton, Patrick Holt, Trey Lankster and David Wilbanks. Honorary pallbearers are the grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
