Velma Mae Brooks

— The funeral for Velma Mae Brooks, 70, of Elkmont will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Spry Funeral Home with Jay Graham officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brooks died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at home.

Velma Brooks was born Dec. 9, 1942, in Peach Bottom, Pa., and went home to heaven Jan. 22, 2013. Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker. She was a member of Elkwood Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold W. Davis; and second husband, LeeRoy Brooks.

Survivors include her son, Harold A. Davis, Athens; daughters, Patty Powers and husband David of Tanner, and Leeann Winsett and husband Jason of Elkmont; grandchildren, Kristy Poole and husband Andy of Tanner, Amanda Griffin of Manchester, Tenn., Heather Oswald of Virginia Beach, Va., Melanie Meadows and husband Dusty of Elkmont, Ryan Powers, Dylan Davis, Colton Davis and Brooklyn Davis, all of Athens, and Katie Winsett of Elkmont; great-grandchildren, Luke Meadows and Alex Poole; brother, Buddy Greene and wife Brenda of Elkmont; sisters, Betty Poole of Nottingham, Pa., Christina Turner of Decatur, and Artie Pack and husband Lonnie of Athens; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Andy Poole, Dusty Meadows, Dylan Davis, Colton Davis, Winford Turner, Clay Turner, Travis Gentry and Wilson Smith.
