Mr. McGee died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital.
He was born May 8, 1932, in Shelbyville, Tenn. He served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955. He is retired from AT&T and Teledyne Brown Engineering.
Doug went to be with the Lord and reunited with the love of his life on Sunday morning after a brief illness. Doug never met a stranger and quickly made you a part of his family. He always had a smile on his face, a hug for you and a kind word. He was the ultimate southern gentlemen. He strived in life to set a Christian example for the many young people he had became “Granddad” to.
The family of Doug McGee would like to thank the staff of Huntsville Hospital’s eighth floor neurological intensive care for the selfless and compassionate care.
Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn McGee; parents, Eulus and Minnie Lee McGee; brothers, Buddy, Billy and Larry McGee; and sister, Margaret Orr.
He is survived by daughters, Pam McGee Cooper and husband Jeff of East Limestone and Tammy McGee Jones and husband Lesley of Birmingham; brother, Bobby McGee and wife Joyce of Shelbyville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Adam Vaughn and wife Ceci; Amanda Howard and husband A.J., Jennifer Cooper, and Jonathan Cooper and wife Kelsey; several very special nieces and nephews; and his extended family of friends. He is also survived by his East Limestone Chevron “Band of Brothers” that he loved dearly.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
