Joyce Ann Fleming Nafe, 73, departed this life on Thursday April 11, 2013, at ECM Hospital in Florence, surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and a member of the Cedar Grove Church of Christ for more than 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Woody Lester and Ethel Rose Fleming and five brothers, Gaither, Press, Sam, Otto and Dee Fleming.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, R.E. “Gene” Nafe; son, Tony and his wife Dana Nafe, their children Emily Rary and husband Tom, Sarah Bearden and husband Michael, and Ben Nafe; daughters, Anita and husband Charley Prince and their children T.J. “Jaime” Wright, Salora and Will Wright, Trey Prince and Ashley Prince, Amy and husband Ricky Brooks and their children, Rebecca and Nathan Brooks; son, Alex and his wife Amanda Nafe and their children, Will, Cate and Tyler Nafe, Ashten and Austen Willard; 10 great-grandchildren, Elissa, Robert, Emma and Liam Rary, Melissa and Jackson Bearden, Amelia Wright and Lilly, Riley and Charlie Nafe; three brothers, J.C. Fleming and wife Anne, Jesse Fleming and wife Shirley, Bill Fleming and wife Becky; three sisters-in-law, Thelma, Judy and Rosie Fleming; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be grandsons T.J. Wright, Will Nafe, Will Wright, Nathan Brooks, Ben Nafe and Trey Prince. Honorary pallbearers are grandson Tyler Nafe and all granddaughters.
Joyce was a pillar of strength for her family and friends. An example of a godly woman, who epitomized the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31:10, her value was truly far above rubies. Her love and compassion were limitless and felt by all who knew her.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Rogersville Funeral Home. Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Grove Church of Christ. A graveside service will follow at Rogersville Funeral Home Cemetery.
