Wilma Green

ATHENS — The funeral for Wilma Earl Green, 77, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at McConnell Funeral Home with James Turner officiating. Burial will be in Dement Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Green died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

She was born Aug. 14, 1936, in Limestone County to William Ellis Wheatley and Francis Elmira Rose Wheatley. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Lee Green; a brother, Joe Wheatley, and a sister, Pat Music.

She is survived by four sons, Harold Green and wife, Robin, Micky Green and wife, Shelia, Ricky Green and wife, Rose, and Chad Green and wife, Emily; two daughters, Beverly Ann McNeely and husband, Jerry, and Jenny Peden and husband, Steve; two brothers, William Ellis Wheatley and Louis Wheatley; four sisters, Mattie Pugh, Ruthie Wheatley, Myrtle Medley, and Sue Penley; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Alex Peden, Josh Reeves, John Green, Lee Green, Dennis Shafer and Charles Smith.
