Mildred Parham

Mildred Rose Parham, 95, of Scottsboro and formally of Athens, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Southern Estates Assisted Living Community. Mrs. Parham was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Limestone County to James Bascom Rose Sr. and Flora Vianna Casteel.

The funeral for Mrs. Parham is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dement Cemetery.

Visitation is two hours before the funeral.

Mildred Parham was a longtime member of Eastside Church of Christ in Athens and later Broad Street Church of Christ in Scottsboro. She was a retired teacher at Monrovia Elementary School, and she traveled the U.S. and Canada extensively, including several years as a tour guide.

Survivors include her son, Lynn Parham and wife Ann; daughter, Jaxie Hargrave and husband Earl; one grandson; five granddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenon Parham; her parents; and her seven brothers and sisters.
