— Mary Louise Pendleton Manry passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at age 80.

Mary was born Feb. 1, 1933, in O’Donnell, Texas, to Jimmie and Rachel Pendleton. She grew up in west Texas among the cotton fields and cattle ranches.

After her marriage to Jack Manry, she moved to Georgia and then Alabama where she worked as a nurse for 22 years. Mary also volunteered at the Huntsville Hospital information desk every Tuesday evening for more than 17 years. She was a member of Holmes Street United Methodist Church.

After retirement she continued to enjoy sewing, crocheting, and collecting antiques. Mary especially enjoyed traveling out west along with visiting her home state of Texas.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jack H. Manry; children, Becky McDougal and husband Johnny of Huntsville; Kathy Elliott and husband Allan of Monrovia, and Jimmy Manry and wife Sally of Athens; grandchildren, Jim McDougal of Washington, D.C., Jaclyn Stursma and husband Jon of Atlanta, Amanda Elliott of Huntsville, Lauren Hart and husband Kevin of Athens, Clint Manry and wife Rachel of Athens; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Jim Wells, Frankie and Bobbie Pendleton; and by her granddaughter, Amie Katherine Elliott.

Visitation is from 12:30-2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Berryhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 with Pastor Eddie Johnson and Pastor Dean Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Huntsville Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of North Alabama. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers for their kindness and loving care of “Mary Jac.”
