Martha Nash

Mrs. Martha Jeanne Martin Nash, 74, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C. 

The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Clements Baptist Church, 8690 U.S. 72 West in Athens, with the Rev. Tim Anderson and the Rev. Jay Dorsey officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing. Interment will be in Dement Cemetery in Athens. 

Visitation is from 6-7 p.m. Friday at Barron Funeral Home in Chester, S.C., and from 4-5 p.m. Saturday at Clements Baptist Church.

Born Dec. 26, 1938, in Birmingham, Mrs. Nash was the daughter of the late Houston James Martin and Annie Augusta Hunt Martin. She attended the schools of Jefferson County and retired as an Avon consultant. She was a member of Clements Baptist Church where she was very active in church activities. Mrs. Nash enjoyed gardening and fishing. She was the widow of Bobby Gene Nash and Eugene Goode.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Nash Dorsey and husband Jay of Blackstock, S.C.; two sons, Dean Nash of Goodsprings, Ala., and Jimmy Wayne Nash and wife Danita of Athens; two grandchildren, Samantha Posey of Blackstock, and Tyler Nash of Athens; two great-grandchildren, Kody Johnson and Clay Johnson, both of Blackstock; three brothers, Robert Martin and wife Billie of Bay Minette, Elbert Martin of Pensacola, Fla., and Eddie Martin of Birmingham; one sister, June Garner and husband Kenny of Calera, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Martin; and one sister, Mae Nicholson.
