Charles White

— Charles Wayne White, 67, of Ooltewah, Tenn., a Godly man, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013.

Charles was born Sept. 24, 1945, in Athens. He was born to eternal life at age 13.  “Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live” (John 11:25).  His favorite Bible scripture was Matthew 22: 36-40, Love God and love your neighbor.  Charles was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. He was a TVA employee 40 years, served in the Air Force from 1968-1972 in Pakistan and Japan and received a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of North Alabama in 1968.

He was preceded in death by his son, Adam White; parents Walter and Maybell White; two sisters, Hazel Hutcheson and Lucille Miller; two brothers, James Carl White and Billy Ray White; and a nephew, Kevin Gatlin.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Linda Smith White; son, Justin White; daughter, Amberjill White; grandson, Zachary White; sister, Catherine Sammet; brother, Walter White Jr.; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Through out Charles life he received several awards including TVA’s highest award of saving a life, the Meritorious Service Award, and was selected Airman of the Month in the Air Force.  He played a large role in the Mother’s Against Drunk Driving local chapter and served as the MADD state representative for five years. All glory to God, the creator of the universe, for his abilities and all he accomplished. We praise God for a life well lived.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. (EST) Monday, Sept. 9, in the Heritage Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Tommy Hayes, Larry Miller and Jimmy Hester conducting the service. David Brandt will lead the music. Inurnment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
