Margaret McDonald

— Margaret Christine McDonald, 87, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Mrs. McDonald was born May 5, 1925, in Limestone County to Roy Childers and Mary Spurlock Childers.

The funeral for Mrs. McDonald will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with Bob White and Rick Cantrell officiating. 

Visitation is from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Margaret McDonald was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church. She was the oldest member at 63 years and was also in the choir for more than 50 years. She taught children in Sunday school and was an avid bowler until a year ago. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and MeMaw to everyone.

Survivors include her sons, John A. McDonald and wife Betty, and Wayne McDonald; daughter, Linda Harris and husband Anthony; grandchildren, Tammie Davis, Nikki Peacock, Shannon Abernathy, Cilynda Weathers and Jessica Hampton; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Shirley Whitlow and Pat Johns.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Allen McDonald; parents, Roy and Mary Childers; brothers, Alvin Childers, Roy Childers  Jr., Charles Childers and Lewis Childers; and sisters, Mildred Lemm and Mary Katherine Griffis.

Pallbearers are Jeff Bishop, Tim Smith, Joel Bishop, Roy Childers, Justin Jeffreys, Ward Harris and Kent Holsclaw. Honorary pallbearers are deacons of Oakdale Baptist Church.
