Tammy Jo Shelton, 40, of Athens passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at her home.
Tammy was born on June 24, 1972, in Jeanette, Pa., to George E. Proctor and Joyce Proctor Coe. She graduated from Central Gwinnet High School in Lawrenceville, Ga., in 1990 and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from UAH in 2002. She worked as a registered nurse for Mid-South Home Health in Moulton.
Tammy was a very loving mother and always put other people’s needs before her own. She had a gorgeous smile that lit up a room. She was always supportive of her kids at all of their school activities. She loved the Crimson Tide football, and her faithful dog, Max.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Proctor.
Survivors include a son, Tony Joe Shelton of Athens; daughter, Kylie Marie Shelton of Athens; her loving fiancé, Kent Rose of Athens; mother, Joyce Coe of Decatur; sisters, Lisa Firestine and husband Mike, and Lori Bowman and husband Todd, all of Fort Wayne, Ind., Robin Banks and husband Donnie of Orland, Ind., Debbie Malerba and husband John of Simpsonville, S.C., and Tammy Luongo and husband Dennis of Florida; brother, Donnie Coe and wife Tonya of Covington, Ga.; stepfather, Donald Coe of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Evans Cemetery with Pat Lawrence and Father Ray Remke officiating.
Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
