James Dement

James “Jim” Dement, 50, of Athens, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at home. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Roselawn Cemetery with Tony Andrews officiating. 

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at Spry Funeral Home.

Mr. Dement was born Oct. 8, 1963, in Limestone County. He was member of Westview Church of Christ, an Army veteran, state treasury of the Alabama Medical Marijuana Coalition, former coach for peewee football and an Eagle Scout.

Survivors include his mother, Wynell Dement; brother, Mark Dement; sister, Angie Dement; niece, Erin Thompson; best friend, Roscoe; all of Athens; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
