Mark Thomas Jr.

— The funeral for Mark Thomas Jr., 90, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Jimmy Bassham and Jeff Bayne officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

He was born Nov. 26, 1922, in Walker County to Mark Thomas Sr. and Ada Romine. He was the most wonderful husband, father and grandfather anybody could ever know. He was always there to provide whatever kind of support was needed for all of his family and friends. He became of member of First United Methodist Church in 1958. He donated to many local charities and always loved to help others. He was retired from Redstone Arsenal and was a World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Argent Tomas; daughter, Lucrecia Hawley and husband Dr. Patrick Hawley; two grandchildren, Cherise Hawley and Charlotte Hawley; two sisters, June Thomas and Mary Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be William Crutcher, Billy Atkinson, Dr. Peter Gibson, Sam Puttman, Dr. James Walker and Doug Logan.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church and Hospice of Limestone County.
