Buford Clemmons

— Buford Manuel Clemmons, 71, of Athens died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at home.

Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home with Jimmy Grisham officiating. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Spry.

Mr. Clemmons was born May 4, 1942, in Lauderdale County. He retired from the city of Athens.

He was preceded in death by his father, Zack Clemmons; mother, Louise Moses; brothers, Billy, Bobby, Don Zell, Terry, Jerry Eroy and Kenneth Clemmons; and sister, Jeanette Daugherty.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Clemmons of Athens; son, Marty Clemmons and wife Kelly, Prospect, Tenn.; daughters and spouses, Tammy (William) Britton, Decatur, and Amy (Kendall) Proctor, Athens; grandchildren, Jonathan Corum, Joe Clemmons, Chris Corum, Jacob Clemmons, Cody Emerson, Kayla Clemmons, Ashley Clemmons, Brittney Emerson, Tiffany Nix and Travis Proctor; eight great-grandchildren; sisters and spouses, Genene (Darrell) Pendergraff, Nashville; Ina (Robert) King, Lexington; Judy (Charles) King, Bonnie (Ronnie) Tollinson, and Betty (James) Goolsby, all of Athens and Margie Morris, Nashville; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Cody Emerson, Jonathan Corum, Chris Corum, Danny Joe Clemmons, Darrell Pendergraff and Jacob Clemmons. Honorary pallbearers are Kendall Proctor and Drew Martin.
