William "Bill" Roberts

— The funeral for William “Bill” Franklin Roberts, 81, of Athens will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home with Tony Andrews and Bill Irby officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Roberts died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at home.

Bill Roberts was born Sept. 23, 1931, in Limestone County. He retired from Wolverine Tube in Decatur, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Roberts was a member of Westview Church of Christ in Athens.

He was preceded in death by parents, Floy and Martha Roberts; sisters, Norma Jean Tribble, Mary Elizabeth Hobbs and Brenda Welden; brothers, James and John Roberts.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Roberts of Athens; daughters, Susan Crowe and husband Randy, Sandra Hennessee and husband Anthony, all of Athens, and Stephanie Miller and husband Steve of Madison; grandchildren, Michelle Jadus and husband Keith of Arlington, Va., Jeremy Crowe and Jason Hennessee and wife Amber, all of Athens, Olivia Miller and William Miller, both of Madison; great-grandson, Hayden Hennessee of Athens; sister, Joyce Thornton of Pettusville; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are John Jeffreys, Ernest Nave, Wade Gilbert, Raniel Johnson, Larry Smith and David Usery. Honorary pallbearers are Houston Ball and Tommy Wales.

Memorials may be made to Limestone County Veterans Museum or Korean Veterans Honor Flight.
