Marie Grace Dupuis Hunt, of Athens, passed away May 12, 2013, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born February 21, 1938, to Euphemond Dupuis, Jr. and Wilda Guillory Dupuis near Lafayette, La. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband Bill and mother to her four children Carl, David, Carole and Claire.
Grace was a wonderful homemaker and loved cooking, sewing and decorating. She also had gifts of painting and writing. Her life was a model of love, perseverance and family woven by her strong faith. Her biography “Voice of Grace,” which came out in
2012, includes her life story and a collection of her writing and spiritual poetry.
She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church for over 20 years and loved daily Mass and praying the rosary. She lived her faith and enjoyed sharing it with others.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Bill Hunt of Athens; her four children, Carl Hunt and wife Lacey (children Elizabeth and Catherine), David Hunt and wife Leah (children Madeline and Armand), Carole Hunt Foret (children Caroline and Sarah) and Claire Hunt Kayser and husband Tom (children Sam, Olivia, and Grace). Survivors also include her sisters Jane Dupuis Zerbe and Agnes Dupuis Blanchard, and brother, Jeff David Dupuis. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A rosary and visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Fr. Charley Alookaran officiating.
Burial will be a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's building fund.
