William Dollar

— William Alvin Dollar, 75, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Lakeland Florida  Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be announced later in Lakeland, Fla.

William was born Dec. 24, 1937, in the Sardis Springs community of Limestone County. He was a retired CSX railroad engineer. William was a 1956 Athens High School graduate and attended the University of Alabama on a football scholarship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Pauline Dollar; brother, Richard Dollar; sisters, Hattie Jewell and Paula Beth Dollar; and his son, William Lance Dollar.

He is survived by his two daughters, Lynn Porter and husband Bob of Mineral, Va., and Lori Castro and husband William of Lakeland; brothers, Everett and wife Betty, Lewis and wife Dorthy, Maurice and wife Bonita, Charles and wife Virginia. He had five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter as well as a number of nieces and nephews, which he was very proud of.

William was a born-again Christian, and was loved by his family and friends. William deeply loved his family and friends. He never met a stranger. He will be surely missed. William was with us for a little while and we know not what tomorrow may bring, but we know now that he is a child of the king. Praise God.
