Jerry Flannagan

— The graveside service for Jerry Nell Flannagan, 70, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Pisgah Cemetery with Doug McCurry officiating. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home.

Mr. Flannagan died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Jerry Flannagan was born April 17, 1943, in Limestone County. He was a retired automobile salesman, cabinetmaker and race car driver.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nellie Gilbert Flannagan; mother, Nancy Geneva Hardaway; and brother, Steve Allen Flannagan.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Brenda Casteel Flannagan of Athens; daughter, Debbie Knapper and husband Robbie of Athens; stepsons, Shannon Gautney and wife Melissa of Nashville, Tenn., Russell Gautney and wife Allison of Rogersville, and Jarred Casteel of Athens; stepdaughters, Selena Williams and husband Larry of Anderson and Serena Osborne and husband Bobby of Fayetteville, Tenn.

Additional survivors include nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, David Flannagan and wife Brenda, Robert Flannagan and wife Barbara, all of Athens; sisters, Ethel Cheatwood and husband Barney, Janet Pugh and husband Jimmy, all of Athens; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Jarred Casteel, Smokey Gray, Bret Beadle, Shannon Gautney, Robert Flannagan and David Flannagan.
