Obie Mitchell

Obie Dean Mitchell, 56, of Decatur passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at home.  Mr. Mitchell was born July 5, 1957, in Limestone County to Obie Mitchell and Katherine Mitchell.

The funeral for Mr. Mitchell is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with Benny Sivley officiating.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Obie Dean Mitchell was a member of Decatur Baptist Church where he served in the First Touch Ministry. He was the owner and operator of Dean Mitchell Tree Care for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Mitchell of Decatur; sons, Wesley Mitchell and wife Casey of Danville, and Cody Mitchell of Decatur; grandchildren, Kinlee Mitchell and Hudson Mitchell; brothers, Steve Pope and wife Susan of Raleigh, N.C., Wayne Mitchell and Bobby Mitchell, both of Decatur; sisters, Debbie Cheatham and husband Gary and Ann Milligan and husband Dale, both of Decatur; several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Obie and Katherine Mitchell.

Pallbearers are T.J. McGee, Dustin Dickens, Brandon Shaneyfelt, Erik Sherrill, Mike Johnson, Larry Reid and Tony Green. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Wilkerson, Ron Hill and Rhea Greenwell.
