Marie Elrod

Marie Elrod, 94, of Athens passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at home. Marie was born Feb. 28, 1919, in Giles County, Tenn., to Clifton Clinton Bowers and Bithy Gates Bowers.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Everett Conn officiating. Burial will be in Reunion Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Elrod was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ, a lifelong resident of Brown's Corner and a good friend and neighbor to all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Elrod; sons, David Elrod and Earl Elrod; granddaughter, Lesa Elrod; grandson, Wayne Elrod; great-granddaughter, Kristen Cox and great-grandson, Carson Boley.

Survivors include one daughter, Michel Davis and husband Tommy of Fayetteville, Tenn.; four sons, Charles Elrod and wife Ann, Tommy Elrod and wife Nancy, Roger Elrod and wife Barbara, all of Athens, and Allen Elrod of Decatur; brother, Albert Bowers and wife Frances of Athens; three sisters, Bertha Pittman of Rogersville, Ozell Vining and Louise Tucker, both of Athens; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Richard Elrod, Anthony Elrod, Billy Seabolt, Corey Elrod, John Martin and Zach Hargrove. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Elrod and John Elrod.
