Floyd K. Agee Jr., 78, of Greenfield, Ind., passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at IU Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis.
He was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Arlington, Ala., as the son of Floyd K. and Lillian Nettles Agee. Mr. Agee received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Auburn University in 1958. He served in the Army. He married Jo Ann on Sept. 16, 1960, in Athens.
He worked for the Department of Defense at Fort Harrison near Indianapolis as an accountant for more than 30 years before retiring in 1991. Mr. Agee was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church. While there, Floyd was a treasurer for more than 20 years, deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. He was also the treasurer for Kenneth Butler Soup Kitchen and member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Floyd enjoyed spending his time watching Auburn Football.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Jo Ann; children, Floyd K. “Trey” Agee III and wife Kelly of Greenfield, Joan Agee Lauman of Solomons, Md., Sharon Agee Rafter and husband Joe of Phoenix; brothers, James Agee of Athens, and Elliot Agee and wife Kay of Athens; sisters, Elinor Ezell and husband Tommy of Athens, and Caroline Williams and husband Richard of Springfield, Va.; six grandchildren, Bethany, Nathaniel, Sarah, Luke, Aaron and Evan; great-granddaughter, Rylan; and many nieces and nephews.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at McConnell Funeral Home in Athens with visitation two hours prior to the service. Burial is at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens. Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield, Ind.
