Otis Kennemer

— Otis Elwyn Kennemer, 82 of Athens died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at home.

Visitation is at 1 p.m. Sunday followed by a 3 p.m. service at Spry Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Athens Memory Gardens  with Jerry Barksdale and Bud White officiating.

Mr. Kennemer was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Limestone County. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ. He retired from NASA. Mr. Kennemer was a Korean Conflict Army veteran where he was a prisoner of war for 33 months.

The family would like to thank Tim Smith and Annette Legg for their care.

Survivors include daughters, Anita Bowers, Nolensville, Tenn., Janet Greene, Decatur, Jean Laxson, Athens; stepson, David Jackson, Pulaski, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Debbie Davis, Athens; grandchildren, Stefan Bowers, Juliana Bowers, Lindsey Gable, Lance Greene, Jordan Laxson, Jared Laxson; step-grandchildren, Jake Jackson, Ben Jackson, Luke Jackson, Will Priest, Layla Davis; great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Beth Gable; brothers, George Kennemer, Anderson, Thomas V. Kennemer, Huntsville, Alvin W. Kennemer, Athens; sisters, Jo Lemay, Anderson, Jean Jaynes, Lexington; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Laxson, Jordan Laxson, Jared Laxson, Lance Greene, Jeremy Gable, Tim Smith.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
