A.V. Couey

— The funeral for A.V. “Voine” Couey, 85, of Athens, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Spry Funeral Home with Dennis Ivey and Carroll Skipworth officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the funeral home.

Mr. Couey died Monday, June 3, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Morgan County to Arthur and Dramer Couey. He was a member of Tanner Pentecostal Church and had retired from General Electric in Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Couey.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Special thanks to hospice nurse, Mitzi Williams Cottingin.

Mr. Couey is survived by his wife, Pat Couey of Athens; four sons, Jerrold Couey and wife Vicky of Somerville, Randall Couey and wife Debie of Somerville, Michael Couey and wife Toni of Hartselle and Byron Couey and wife Michelle of Hartselle; two stepsons, Eddie Gene Thomas of Elkmont and James Thomas and wife Savannah of Athens; 19 grandchildren; 24great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and friends will be pallbearers.
