Granvil Curtis 'Grant' Yancey

— The funeral for Granvil Curtis “Grant” Yancey, 83, of Dawson, Ala., will be 3 p.m. today at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel in Rainsville with the Rev. Terry DeHart and the Rev. Ertis Ray Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Mount View Memory Gardens.

Mr. Yancey passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, in Birmingham.

He was a retired farmer and a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Fort Payne Family Worship Center.

He is survived by daughters Brilene and Ronnie Messer, Sue and Leonard Saffels and Garland and Marketta Yancey; brother, Charlie and LaRue Hughes; half-brother, Rickey Yancey; half-sister, Joyce Collins; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Willodean “Bug” Yancey; and brother, Andy Ray Hughes.
